Easing off
Today was Day 1 to ease of of the cleanse. I was supposed to drink OJ all day but I ended up getting a VERY small salad of greens, a couple slices of cukes, carrot shavings and balsamic. I ate it slow and chewed it thoroughly. Tonight after work we went to Ever'Mans food store and bought all kinds of stuff to try: Better 'n Peanut Butter, locally made strawberry preserves, organic wheat penne, marinara, two tiny (and quite expensive) peaches, and a big container of greens, plus beef broth, shakable flaxseed, organic sesame ginger dressing (YUM, I already had some), kettle unsalted chips (I hope these are good) and some veggie low sodium ramen noodles. Rich grabbed some stuff and we bought some honey for people -- our total was $80! Ouch.
I think I am going to hit Palafox Market Saturday morning for some fresh veggies and fruits. For "dessert" tonight, I'm slowly eating a minipack of raisins. They're sweet and perfect.

Day 5 & 6
Forgot to post yesterday -- was down 6 lbs. Friday morning and 6.8 this morning. Today was a challenge with the cleanse. I think it was because of the weekend and I got three pieces of bad news today that was upsetting and normally I would eat, eat, and eat. I think the call to my mom helped -- she gives me strength. I know I can make it to Wednesday.

Day 3
I slept so good last night. So good! I had trouble again getting out of bed because I was just so relaxed and comfortable. Maybe it was because Rich put my favorite 1200 thread count sheets on the bed. :) The scale was pretty nice to me this morning too...down a total of 3.6 lbs. Getting on the scale is what got me out of my sweet bed.
Today I got my copy of Eating Clean for Dummies....haven't cracked it open yet, but I will tonight. This afternoon I realized that I really wanted a salad. Something to crunch on. Even gum to chew. Instead I reached for my water. I am using the ladies' at least every 90 minutes. I feel really great too -- a bit skinnier, yes, but just CLEAN. And my mind feels so CLEAR. Most days of the week I leave with a slight headache and I haven't had any of those since I've started the Cleanse.
I got super hungry today around 6 PM because I had been at the doctor's office. As soon as I got home I made more lemonade and sucked some down. I'm finding lately that I have to hold my nose, take a deep breath, and then suck it down through a straw and chase it with water. But then my hunger goes away for about 2 1/2 to 3 hours.
Even on Day 3 I'm wondering how the hell I'm going to get through 7 more days of this diet. I'm sick of squeezing lemons already. But I decided before I started to stick to it. I think my planning and education of the Master Cleanse really helped me so far because I had all my shit in advance ready to go on Monday morning. I had read the book, watched many YouTube videos, and asked Amber many questions. I felt prepared and motivated. Preparation is key!
Went for a quick walk tonight with the girls and my honey - something is better than nothing. On to Day 4!

Day 2 - Rought Start, but then Success!
Last night was my first serving of the Smooth Move tea. I drank it around 6:45 PM thinking it would hit me about 12 hours later. Nope. 3:30 AM. And I awoke with abdominal pains, once I made it to the bathroom it was a cold sweat and I thought I was going to throw up (what, I don't know). After a good bit of time passed before I made it back to bed.
When the alarm went off I just couldn't get myself up. I was late to work. :(
Once I got my shit together, I made my tea and drank a couple servings before I left work work.
I have to be honest, I have no idea how many servings I drank today. I just drink when I am hungry and lots of water in between. Enjoyed some herbal tea tonight as my "treat". I went for a walk around the campus today as well - mainly to warm up because I've been freezing at my desk this week -- I wonder if it is because I'm drinking so much cold stuff.
Oh yeah I forgot, when I weighed in this morning, I was down 2.2 lbs. :D

Day 1
I got up at 5:30 and went straight to the kitchen to make my lemonade for the day. I made 64 ounces to have for the day and I drank one serving before I left for work. I was surprised it took 6 lemons to make a cup of juice. I'm going to be buying a lot of lemons!
The lemonade was pretty sweet because of the maple syrup. I couldn't really taste the cayenne tincture. So I finished my first serving around 7:15 and got hungry again around 8:45....only 90 minutes later! So I drank more, this time over ice. Still quite sweet! Someone suggested I water it down and that seemed to help me get it down, but I think even more than that, a straw made it easier to chug. I drank a bit more through the day and then had a another serving around 5 PM. I'm not sure I can drink much more today. I am so tired and sluggish but I want to try and get a walk in with the girls tonight.
I am steeping my first cup of peppermint smoothe move tea -- an herbal laxative tea suggested for each evening. So that's that. I guess I've made it long enough today to call it a success. The next 9 days are going to be a bitch to say the least, but I'm hoping the positive side effects won't make me care.

T minus 12 hours - Master Cleanse
I am challenging myself to my very first Master Cleanse (created by Stan Burroughs in 1940). I will be drinking 6-12 ten ounce servings of a concoction consisting of pure water, lemon juice, organic maple syrup, and cayenne pepper for at least the next 10 days.
All I'm supposed to do is drink this "lemonade" as often as I feel hungry and as much water as I want, then at night drink Smooth Move herbal laxative tea to help things along.
I am looking forward to feeling better and having more energy. I am so lethargic after work that I just can't get enough energy to put some walking shoes on. I know my diet contributes to how I feel in my body and it is definitely NOT being a positive influence on me. My goal is go get rid of the toxins in my body that I have been feeding it for so long and to start fresh with a "reset" digestive system and "eat clean" after I finish the cleanse.
Here's to better health, smaller jeans, and a happier life. Happy Birthday to me!
