The 17 Day Diet - Cycle 1 - Day 12

Starting weight: 222.8
Today's weight: 213.8
Weight loss to date: -9.0 lbs

Slept in until 9 AM today - boy that felt good!  I spent time prepping my coupons and made a trip to Wal-Mart, returning home around 11:30 and quite hungry!  I forgot to eat breakfast before I left.

Lunch - Smoothie with 1 container vanilla yogurt + several whole strawberries (the leaves have a lot of nutrients), small salad + balsamic vinegar.

Dinner - Here is my first attempt at a new recipe -- it is a healthier adaptation of P.F. Chang's lettuce wraps appetizer.  This recipe made enough for 6 wraps and it was plenty filling and SUPER GOOD.  Totally making this again.  Thank you to my husband for helping me out with this one.

I was going to make eggplant parm tomorrow for dinner but I can't find low-carb marinara sauce.  I will have to google it and see who makes it and where I can buy -- struck out at Publix and Wal-Mart.

I made red velvet cupcakes with cream cheese icing as a treat for his birthday.  I really want one but I'm going to chew my Extra Sugar Free Strawberry Shortcake gum for dessert.

One thing I like about this diet is that I don't have to eat EVERYTHING that I'm supposed to eat daily (like 2 fruit servings).  Dr. Moreno stresses that you shouldn't eat a shitload of broccoli just because you're allowed to -- eat until your are satisfied (of the cleansing veggies).  I was so used to eating all my "points" on weight watchers that some night when I had 8 points left, I'd grab for the ice cream to eat up my points.  Now how is that a good choice when compared to eating healthily?

I am looking forward to Cycle 2 (begins Friday next week) because I get to eat oatmeal again and beef.  Looking forward to introducing more foods to my diet.  This whole Cycle idea is to keep your body guessing by altering the caloric intake, "resetting" your metabolism so it works better and keeps your body burning fat versus plateauing, which happens on a lot of diets.

I continue to be amazed by the scale every morning and am starting to look forward to getting dressed every day.  At this rate I'm going to need some new clothes for work in the next couple weeks.  Darn!
