I'm not really a planner, so when I downloaded and read a sample of this book on my Kindle late last night, I had to buy the whole book and kept reading. And of course I just HAD to start today - no delaying! Right after work I hit Publix and spent $75 mostly on produce! I bought 4 bags of prewashed salad (bogo!), cucumber, onions, green beans, celery, carrots, eggs, apples, oranges, lemons, a grapefruit, bell peppers, strawberries, raspberries, blueberries (hey, they're in season!), ground turkey, salmon, green tea, fat free dressing, and 20 yogurts!
I've decided to blog my progress to keep me on track and to keep track of what I'm eating. I'm going to list my weight each day (ouch, yes I'm making it public) and exactly what I eat. I am also supposed to be exercising for 17 minutes a day, so I'm going out for a walk later with one of the pups. Here goes!
Starting weight: 222.8
Weight Lost to date: 0
Breakfast
Protein or probiotic serving = 4 oz vanilla yogurt (supposed to be 6 oz but didn't want to buy 2 at work)
Fruit serving = nectarine (yum!!)
Green tea (eww)
Lunch
Protein or probiotic serving = grilled chicken breast
Cleansing vegetables = Salad consisting of spinach, romaine, carrots, cucumber, fat free french dressing packet, broccoli, and mushrooms. I meant to add parm cheese but forgot.
Water
Dinner
Protein serving = Salmon on the Foreman grill - I conversed with the fish guy at Publix and he gave me some tips; however, I ended up doing my own thing and seasoned wtih garlic infused olive oil (this counted as my fat serving today) and Old Bay seasoning (garlic and herbs version).
Cleansing vegetables = Green beans I can steam in the microwave in its own bag (I like easy stuff)
Green tea - two glasses
I bought two gallons of this green tea (BOGO at Publix). Good thing it is tasty because I'm supposed to be drinking 3 cups a day. I like the cold version better.
So what's left - I'm supposed to be eating Flintstones vitamins, drinking 8 glasses of water a day (I had that accomplished before lunchtime) and a 2nd fruit serving as well as a 2nd probiotic serving. I didn't realize that the author recommends NOT eating fruit after 2 PM but I was counting on that as my dessert tonight.
A couple things that suprise me about this diet so far is that for the next 17 days I cannot have MILK or SODA and that gum is not encouraged (something about swallowing air and making you more bloated?) So the Soda thing - I usually have a diet pepsi max or coke zero at lunch and then one at dinner. Rarely at breakfast LOL. Anywho, I am armed with Advil and plan on sticking it through and hoping that my dependence on Max and Zero will subside eventually. Instead of chewing my gum after lunch like I normally do, I went and brushed my teeth. This helped.
Ok, so I am taking this day by day and I'm going to do my damndest to stick to it. Like the author says, anyone can do anything for 17 days. That's me! I'm anyone!
